About Us

Owners ~ Ellen and John Eakin

Rancho de Los Arboles is a 22 acre farm in north Texas dedicated to breeding, raising and training quality hunters and jumpers.  The farm is owned by Ellen and John Eakin.  Ellen began riding at a young age showing in junior jumpers and hunters throughout the Texas circuit in her teen years.  After taking a 33 year break she began riding again and is competing in A and AA shows in adult amateurs and amateur owner classes in USEF zone 7.   Ellen is chiefly responsible for the horses training, care and breeding operation.  John is responsible for the facilities and land management.

Trainer ~ Frederick Magazzeni

Being raised as an army kid while quite young, Frederick grew up back and forth between Germany and the US, riding in saddle clubs in the local German village close to the family home, and riding western horses in the states. Going on to graduate from Houghton college and the equestrian program gave avenue to study in Germany as an adult and work under the German training program at both the Kasselmann stables first and then later under the tutelage of the Koschel family dressage training stables. Mostly working with the young horses preparing them as competition horses for the head trainers and the clients, as well as some sales horses.

After competing in the US young dressage horse program for FEI young horse tests, for 4 years in Albuquerque, Frederick spent 3 years teaching and coaching in the collage program as a head dressage instructor. In his time there, bringing home 3 consecutive regional Team championships and several individual national champions at the intercollegiate level, as well as USDF regional champions/reserve champion students, the itch to train and compete called him away from the collage setting. Continuing to ride and compete and the love of starting young horses properly, led to making connections to that brought Frederick to Rancho de Los Arboles in January of 2017.

Continuing to work with young horses to build a solid foundation of education for their future and willingness to work with troubled and problem horses has been at the forefront of Frederick’s own career. With competing and teaching competitors along the way, Frederick likes to think of his teaching and training business more as “sharing riding with students”.
